Frequently Asked Questions

We’ve been in the roofing business for many years. Over the years we’ve had customers ask a common series of questions, so we thought we’d answer those here.

Q: How do I know if I need a new roof?

A: New roofs are the result of one of two things: age and storm damage. Traditionally, shingle roofs typically have a lifespan of 20 years, give or take, depending on the quality of the shingles. If your roof is older than 20 years, it’s best to get a roof inspection to see what shape it’s in.

In addition, roofs often become damaged from hail and windstorms, so it’s a great idea to have a professional come out and expect for any damage after a major storm.

Q: How much do new roofs cost?

A: There are a variety of factors that go into pricing a new roof, including brand, type of materials used and shape and slope of your roof.

What we can tell you is you should never select roofers based on price alone. You ALWAYS get what you pay for, and if you don’t pay enough, you’re apt to pay for it a few years down the road when your roof starts leaking.

Q: Will I have to replace my gutters if I get a new roof?

A: Nope. If your gutters are in good shape, we can work around them.

Q: How long does it take to have a new roof installed?

A: Typically, we can install new roofing within 3 to 5 days. Keep in mind sometimes bad weather can cause delays.

Q: Do I need insulation?

A: We always recommend installing insulation as part of your roofing system as it will go a long way toward energy conservation, saving you on energy bills. Experienced roofers will check into building codes to see what “R” value is efficient for new builds.
